Mumbai Local Train Mega Block on October 18: Central Railway Cancels Services

Mumbai local train services will face disruptions on October 18 as Central Railway announces a mega block on key routes. Check cancelled Harbour and Trans-Harbour locals, Thane-Kalyan train changes and special services.

Mumbai local train commuters should prepare for disruptions on Sunday, October 18, as Central Railway has announced a mega block on sections of its suburban network for engineering and maintenance work. The block will affect the Thane-Kalyan, Panvel-Vashi Harbour and Trans-Harbour routes. Several local trains will remain cancelled, while multiple mail and express trains are likely to reach their destinations 10 to 15 minutes late.

In contrast, Western Railway will not undertake a jumbo block on its Mumbai suburban network on Sunday, and local train services will operate according to their regular schedules.

Mega Block Between Thane and Kalyan From 9 AM to 1 PM

According to Central Railway, a block will be imposed on the fifth and sixth lines between Thane and Kalyan from 9 AM to 1 PM. During this period, several up and down mail and express trains will be diverted onto the fast lines between Thane and Kalyan. As a result, the affected trains may reach their destinations approximately 10 to 15 minutes late.

Major up-direction trains affected by the block include the Solapur-CSMT Vande Bharat Express, Pune-CSMT Sinhagad Express, Deccan Queen, Pragati Express, Mangaluru-CSMT Express, Rajgir-LTT Janata Express, Kakinada Port-LTT Express, Banaras-LTT Superfast Express, Howrah-CSMT Mumbai Mail, Hatia-LTT Express, Coimbatore-LTT Express, Nanded-CSMT Rajyarani Express and Chennai-CSMT Superfast Express.

Train number 61003, the Vasai Road-Diva MEMU, scheduled to depart Vasai Road at 9.50 AM, will operate only up to Kopar station. Meanwhile, train number 61004, the Diva-Vasai Road MEMU, scheduled to depart Diva at 11.30 AM, will now depart from Kopar at 11.45 AM. The MEMU service between Diva and Kopar will remain cancelled during the block.

Several Local Trains Cancelled on Harbour Line

A block will be imposed on the Panvel-Vashi Harbour Line from 11.05 AM to 4.05 PM. The block will not apply to the Port Line.

During this period, local trains departing from Panvel towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 10.33 AM and 3.49 PM will remain cancelled.

Similarly, down Harbour Line local services departing from CSMT towards Belapur and Panvel between 9.45 AM and 3.12 PM will also be cancelled.

To minimise inconvenience to passengers, Central Railway will operate special local trains between CSMT and Vashi during the block period.

Trans-Harbour Line Services Also Affected

Services on the Trans-Harbour Line will also face disruptions. Local trains departing from Panvel towards Thane between 11.02 AM and 3.53 PM will remain cancelled. Services departing from Thane towards Panvel between 10.01 AM and 3.20 PM will also be cancelled.

However, Trans-Harbour services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will remain available. Train operations on the Port Line will continue as usual.

With the mega block affecting multiple sections of Central Railway's suburban network, passengers travelling on the Thane-Kalyan, Harbour and Trans-Harbour routes should account for the revised services and cancellations while planning their journeys on Sunday, October 18. Western Railway commuters, meanwhile, will face no disruption from a jumbo block, as its Mumbai suburban services will run according to the regular timetable.
